Student Board

Mission Statement

Our mission as the Student Association of the New York State CEC is to provide a direct and accessible channel for students to learn and involve themselves with the CEC. We encourage students to learn about the CEC and what it advocates as well as provide events and resources tailored to those studying for a career which may bring them into contact with children with exceptional abilities.

We host an annual student leadership conference each June which takes place at colleges across New York State. This event is an opportunity for students to attend presentations and workshops hosted by active professionals in the field of special education, gain practical tools and materials to further their professional development, and network with other peers and professionals. We also provide an excellent platform to collaborate and learn from other CEC members.

2015 Student Leadership Conference

We are pleased to announce...
The 2015 Student Leadership Conference will be held at The College of Saint Rose, Albany, from June 12-14. The College of Saint Rose was founded in 1920 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet as a Roman Catholic college for women. Its founders selected the name of Saint Rose to honor the first canonized saint in the Americas. It is perfectly located near Albany's most vibrant, cultural districts.

What you can expect

Each June, the Student Leadership Conference brings students from across NYS together to learn more about effective classroom practices, students with special needs, emerging classroom technologies, and more. The conference also provides an ideal opportunity to collaborate and network with equally driven future leaders in the field of education.

On-campus housing will be available.
