Be the Voice

Be Exceptional

Be the Vision

An Organization of Dedicated Professionals

The New York State Council for Exceptional Children is a local leader in advocacy for special education legislation, professional development, and networking opportunities for goal oriented special educators to incorporate scholarship and activism in the field of Studies in Exceptionality.

For 93 years, CEC has embraced progressive reform and worked to change the educational structure. Representing New York State and advocating for student’s human rights, the NYSCEC is your voice and vision. We take action and connect with school leadership, policy makers, and local education agencies. In this way, the NYSCEC plays the role of rudder in ensuring that the field and practice of exceptional education remains in its ever-foundational grounds of facilitating social justice.

Our founders embraced professional standards and ethics for the field of special education. Climbing to the top, they became recognized leaders, advocates, and policy makers in the field of special education. It is now our turn!

We are entrusted with the responsibility to guarantee that individuals with exceptionalities have well-prepared, career-oriented educators. Collaboration, networking, and professional development are essential components to ensuring that all educators are well-prepared with the knowledge, tools, and passion needed to support the learning of all individuals with exceptionalities.

The NYSCEC is here for you! Let’s get to work.
