The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continual professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.

The New York State Council for Exceptional Children invites teachers, faculty, students and parents to attend its 58th Annual Convention and Expo in Rochester, NY.
Our conference will focus on identifying current research and practices in Autism, RTI, transition, co-teaching and collaboration, behavior management, instructional technologies, and classroom-based strategies across exceptionalities (just to name a few!). During the NYS CEC 2011 Convention, general education and special education faculty will have the opportunity to expand their professional skills while networking with other professionals across New York State.

CEC is the leading voice for special and gifted education. Through the vision and dedication of its nearly 45,000 members, CEC sets the standard for high quality education for children and youth with exceptionalities.
The Council ensures the needs of children and youth with exceptionalities are met in educational legislation, establishes professional standards for the field, and develops initiatives to improve special education practice. And, CEC is known as THE source for information, resources, and professional development for special educators.
